Oaks Winner Unbeaten
The English spring classics, the Derby and the Oaks, run last week, were both won by unbeaten horses. Nijinski by his Derby win took his record to eight successive wins while Lupe recorded her third win.
Lupe is by the Mv Babu horse. Primera, which won at two. three, four, five and six years old. and numbered among his wins, the Ebor Handicap under 9-0. His dam. Pirette, won the French Oaks.
Lupe’s dam, Alcoa, by Alycidon out of Phyllis Court, by Court Martial, required a really long distance to enable her to show her best. As a four-vear-old she won over two miles* and a quarter but perhaps her best performance was her Cesarewttch second placing. She finished brilliantly in the two miles and a quarter race but failed by a short head to catch Avon’s Pride, to which she gave
