Shaped like an early winner when she got up to deadbeat for second behind Maiwwaru on the first day of the Ashburton winter meeting. Two days later she overcame an awkward run fee finish fifth to Broughton in the race for probationary drivers. Has drawn favourably at No. 6 at the barrier and if she can take full advantage of this, she should be to the fore throughout.
Oamaru TRELAY (Race 5). B c 3 yrs by Mellay — Treasure Pond, trained by H. A. Anderton, Wingatui. ■Finished third to Not Again in the St Leger at Trentham and then was given a short let-up. He showed he had lost nothing of his old form when he ran Watchman to half a neck on the last day at Wingatui He is a top class colt and looks very hard to beat. Manawatu PLAIN (Race 6). Blk g 6 yrs by Red .Jester—Vanetrap, trained by ,3. Robinson, Fox ton. Failed at last start after choking on the bit. Was in fine form previously, having won two races in quick succession.— Wellington correspondent. Waipa CLOVER MONEY (Race 2) br f Paromar, trained by W. Flower. Takanini. Clover Honey is a promising filly which ran third against hacks last time out at Roto rua. She is working well and must be hard to beat from a good barrier draw ; —Auckland correspondent.
