Murray First
B. A. G. Murray, of Wellington, who is the first winner of the Nugget Cup, awarded to the outstanding personality in each New Zealand cricket season by Reckitt and Cotman Limited, in conjunction with the “New Zealand Cricketer” magazine. The award is made on crowdpleasing ability as well as on results. Murray scored 638 runs last season at an average of 59, making five half-cen-turies in the Plunket Shield series and a spectacular century in the second of the unofficial tests against Australia.
