RESEARCH GRANTS
Three grants amounting to $5244 have been made by the Robert McClelland Trust Board to organisations conducting research into the cause and cure of cancer. The payments, made available under the will of Robert McClelland, a former Ellesmere farmer, were $2824 to the University of Otago Medical School, $1420 to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, and $lOOO to the CanterburyWestland division of the Cancer Society of New Zealand. Since the board was set up in 1955, more than $60,000 has been paid in grants for research on cancer. The chairman of the board is the District Public Trustee for Christchurch (Mr V. E.
