Water From Factory
The Christchurch Drainage Board agreed on Monday evening to accept the discharge of water from the new factory of Miller’s, Ltd, in Wairakei Road, provided the Regional Water Board was agreeable to the extraction of the amount of water required. The board was asked for approval of the disposal of water used in a closedcircuit heat pump system into the north branch of the South Wairarapa Stream and told that the maximum flowrate would be 200 gallons a minute, with maximum usage a day of 120,000 gallons.
It recommended that all reasonable methods should be provided to keep the discharge to a minimum, and said it might fix a charge.
