(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. Lancashire, scored the first win over its old rival, Yorkshire, since 1960 yesterday, to stay at the head of the English county cricket championship. They won by 10 wickets to boost their points total after four matches to 66. Surrey, which has played two more matches, beat Hampshire by 10 runs to move into second place with 60 points, seven clear of present champion, Glamorgan. Results:—
At Leicester: Kent 342/6 declared beat Leicestershire 153 and 185 CP. Marner 67; J. Shepherd 6/89, D. Underwood 4/30), by an innings and four runs. Kent 18 points, Leicestershire 1. At Lords: Middlesex 369/5 declared drew with Sussex 191 and 353 (J. Parks 67, M. Griffith 63; R. Herman 4/57). Middlesex 10 points, Sussex three. At Worcester: Glamorgan 328/7 declared and 136/3 drew with Worcestershire 176 and 390/3 declared (R. Headley 133. J. Ormrod 76, T. Graveney 95 not out). Glamorgan nine points, Worcestershire three. At Leeds: Lancashire 381 and 25/0 beat Yorkshire 121 and 281 (G. Boycott 71), by 10 wickets. Lancashire 18 points, Yorkshire one. At Bournemouth: Surrey 257 and 210/7 (Younis Ahmed 66 not out; D. White 4/52) beat Hamp* shire 176 and 281 (R. Marshall 121, A. Castell 73: R. Jackman 4/47), by 10 runs. Surrey 17 points, Hampshire five. At Derby: Derbyshire 280 and 164/4 drew with Warwickshire 468/7 declared (R. Kanhai 165, M. Smith 61). Warwickshire seven points. Derbyshire five. At Northampton: Somerset 398/9 declared and 159/4 declared drew with Northamptonshire 169 and 214/5 (D Steele 65 not out). Somerset eight points, Northamptonshire two. At Nottingham: Essex 143 and 366/2 declared (B. Ward 164 not out, G. Saville 64, K. Fletcher 102 not out) drew with Nottinghamshire 282 and 223/8 (M. Smedley 81). Nottinghamshire nine points, Essex four.
