HOCKEY IS OFF
Coast Cost Too Great The Canterbury Hockey Association’s senior reserve and third grade matches against West Coast teams, to have been played at Greymouth next week-end, have been postponed. Transport and accommodation difficulties have caused the postponement and the matches will now be played on August 9. The chairman of the Canterbury association (Mr T. I. Crossen) said yesterday that the price for the trip was “exorbitant,” and the West Coast association had been asked if it could billet the teams. This had not been possible. Mayor Patron.— The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr A. R. Guthrey) has accepted the position of patron of the Canterbury Hockey Supporters’ Club, formed two weeks ago.
