RAILWAY ACTION
Rolling Strikes At Workshops (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 27. Labourers and semi-skilled] tradesmen at the Otahuhu] railway workshops plan to; start rolling strikes from] next Tuesday in an attempt to '■ get direct bargaining with the ] Railways Department on wage( rates. This decision was made at| a lunch-time meeting of 147] branch members of the] Amalgamated Society of ] Railway Servants. The branch secretary (Mr C. S. Duffy) said only a handful of men voted against the motion. Two other motions—that the workers strike indefinitely from Tuesday, and that no action be taken —were both defeated.
