Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Cooking vegetables were cheaper, but salad vegetable and fruit prices were un changed at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday compared to Thursday s prices. However, sprouts sold for up to $3.50 a case, $1 dearer and grapefruit cost up to $6.80 a case, an increase of up to $l.BO Cabbages were 40 cents cheaper, costing up to $1 a case and cauliflowers, at from 60 cents to 80 cents a case, were up to 10 cents cheaper. The official price range sup plied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ As sociation was.— Silver beet.—3oc to 50c a case. Beetroot.—To 40c a box.
Pumpkins.—s2 to $2.60 a sack Cabbages.—6oc to $1 a case. Carrots.—Boc to $1.35 a case Cauliflowers. —60c to 80c a case. Onions.—To $3.20 a bag. Parsnips.—4oc to 80c a case. Sprouts.—To $3.50 a case. Swedes.—To $1.20 a box. Potatoes.—Boc to $1.20 a sugai bag. Kumeras.—To $4 a case. Spring Onions.—6oc a dozen bunches. Radishes.—soc a dozen bunches. Lettuces (Oamaru).—To $1.4? a case. Leeks.—soc to $1.40 a case. Utah celery.—To $1.40 a case. Rhubarb.—sl.Bo a dozen bunches. Butternut pumpkins —To $1 a bag. Buttercup pumpkins.—To 40c a case. Tomatoes.—To 38c per lb.
