Shortage Of Nurses
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. Increased salaries, better tutors and incentives for rural work were among suggestions made to Parliament last night to alleviate New Zealand’s shortage of nurses. Speaking in the debate on the Hospitals Amendment Bill, Mrs E. I. Tombleson (Nat, Gisborne), said she was concerned at the 45 per cent drop-out rate of trainees in the nursing profession.
