Road Deaths
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 24. A young woman was killed instantly and three persons were injured when two cars collided on the main highway just south of Albany at 11.40 p.m. on Saturday. The dead woman was Jane Chevalier Preston, aged 17, a student nurse, of Temple Street, Meadowbank. CAR HITS POLE A man died when a car struck a pole in Great South Road, Otahuhu, at 8.10 p.m. on Saturday. He was Norman McKibbin, aged 50, of Gilbert Road, Otara. CARS COLLIDE A 62-year-old woman was killed when three cars collided at Pukehou, just north of Waipawa, on State Highway No. 2 at 3.30 p.m. today. She was Mrs Helen Beatrice Mason, of Russell Street, Palmerston North. Six persons were admitted to Waipukurau Hospital and two were later transferred to the intensive care unit at Hastings.
