Transport Board Loss
The working loss incurred ■ by the Christchurch Trans- ’ port Board during the four weeks ended April 26 was |515,910, compared with $15,286 for the same period last year but because of stopwork meetings, the bus strike and Easter it was not possible to draw a realistic comparison with last year, the Christchurch Transport Board was told yesterday. Passenger revenue decreased by 3.8 per cent, or $3478, and operating expenses increased by $B4O, or 0.7 per cent, the finance committee’s report said. Passenger journeys decreased by 33,929, or 3.3 per cent, to 1,115,534, and mileage decreased by 23,117 to 271,914 miles. The deficiency to date for the year was $25,203, a decrease of $2307 on the same period of last year.
