University League
Canterbury University will ptay Otago University in the major curtain-raiser to the second Rugby league test between Great Britain and New Zealand at the Show Grounds on July 19. This will be the first interUniversity match to be played in Christchurch since 1956. Otago played Auckland University as the curtain-raiser before the world championship game between France and New Zealand at Auckland in 1968. the year that the code wa's first included in the universities winter sports tournament. At the last winter tournament Otago and Auckland finished first equal with Canterbury third. During the series of matches Otago beat Canterbury by five points.
