Petition On Tour
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 17. A petition asking the Government “strongly to advise sporting bodies against travelling to Rhodesia and South-West Africa which are under administrations declared illegal by the United Nations” was presented in Parliament today. The petition, which was signed by Dr Patrick Hohepa and 4700 others, was presented by Mr M. Rata (Lab., Northern Maori). It says that the Rugby Union’s decision to send a Rugby team to South Africa “has involved New Zealand in a foreign policy stance with vital international implications entailing consequences for this country’s external and Commonwealth relations.”
