RISES OUTNUMBER FALLS IN ACTIVE SHAREMARKET
Share prices moved up a little more strongly on New Zealand ; exchanges yesterday in active trading, especially in the firm speculative sector.
Rises were ahead of fails on the industrial boards, but leading issues were even The strong second-line stocks were Transport Nelson, up 9c
to 109 c, and New "ealand Cement, 6c higher at 166 c. Bunting was weak, losing 10c to 100 c, while Reidrubber eased back 8c to 490 c. Milne and Choyce fell to 70c in spite of its report. Oils moved only slightly although again trading was heavy in Bounty stock, which ended the day 2c lower at He in Christchurch and Auckland. L and M eased a cent to 77c, and the Republic issues moved slightly in oppo-j site directions. Among miners. Southern Cross rights and Waihi each put on sc. to close at 35c and 65c respectively. The other New Zealand issues were steady, but Mount Isa eased on the overseas list. Overseas industrials were mixed, with an easy tone prevailing. B.H.P. rose 20c to 1750 c however.
Auckland Move
Henry Berry, Ltd, the Wellington grocery merchant, has bought Greenslade Hughes, Ltd. the Auckland-based firm of general merchants. The company was owned primarily by Hughes and Cossar, Ltd, of Auckland, and R. Powley and Company (N.Z.), Ltd, of Dunedin. The chairman of Henry Berry (Mr B. R Law), said yesterday that the acquisition would add useful strength to his company’s operations on a national basis
