CONCERN IN NORTH-EAST
Decapitation
Of Primaries
Concern about the possible effects of the proposed de* capitation of the Glenmoor, Briggston and Mairehau primary schools by 1973 was expressed at the combined meeting of members of the schools’ committees this week.
The headmaster Of Mairehau High. School (Mr A. B. Ryan) also attended the meeting. , The present intention of the Canterbury Education Board is that Mairehau and Glenmoor will contribute to Heaton Street. Intermediate, and Briggston to Shirley Intermediated One of the objections was that sending pupils to intermediate Schools outside theii area could have a serious effect on secondary schools later. It was considered that the proposed intermediate school in Kellys Road would, not eventuate if the changes were made. It -was decided that those present would' report back to their schools and elect representatives to a sub-commit-tee for further action.
