Housing Costs Higher
The average cost of the 453 new houses built in Waimairi County in the year ended! March 31 was 59965, compared with an average cost of 88349 for houses built in the previ- ; ous year. On costs given for the month of March, the average was 37.32 a square foot,* compared with 86.76 a year ago. During the year, the council issued 1663 building per-; mits, valued at 312,726,375, compared with 1683 permits valued at 58,411,452 last year. In March, the council issued 141 permits worth 3637,223,! compared with 170 permits: worth 3622,073 in March, 1969.
