BIG NAVAL EXERCISES

The Soviet Navy Chief, Admiral Sergei Gershkov, said last night that the forthcoming far-flung Soviet naval exercises would take place in I the Mediterranean, Black and Baltic seas, as well as the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. I An official announcement earlier yesterday mentioned only the two major oceans as the scene of the exercises, to ibe held this month and next. Admiral Gershkov told the Government newspaper. /’lzvestia,” last night, how(ever, that the exercises, code- - named “Okeah,” would cover '“an enormous area of the ocean and sea theatres. . . . “The activities will be conducted in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and seas adjoining them the Barents Sea, the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea, the Okhotsk Sea, the Japanese Sea, the Philippines Sea—and also the Mediterranean, Black and Baltic Seas.”
