Increase In Stakes

The 1970 New Zealand Sapling Stakes will be worth $5500 this year, an Increase of $5OO. The race will be the feature of the first day of the Ashburton Trotting Club’s winter meeting on May 30 and June 1. Stakes .for the two days have been increased by $2lOO. The Nicoll Handicap and the Pendarves Handicap, the races for 2:ls class pacers, will each carry a stake of $l9OO, an Increase of $2OO. The races for maiden pacers will be run in divisions. Previously the club avoided divisions on the second day of the meeting. Each division will carry a full stake of $7OO, an increase of $lOO. The stakes for the races for maiden trotters have been increased by $lOO to $7OO.

The first race each day will start at 10.45 a.m.
