High Seas Expected
Heavy seas are expected on the east coast of New Zealand in the next three days and fishing and small boat owners have been advised by the police to secure their boats. The police at Timaru, Christchurch, Cheviot and Kaikoura have been asked to advise boat owners of the warning issued by the Meteorological Office in Wellington. Boat owners have been advised that moorings and anchorages should be secure and that small boats should be hauled above the high tide line. Strong winds in the Pacific associated with a very severe depression over the Chatham Islands are expected to cause heavy seas.
