Two Double Winners In Under Age Titles
Miss L. Trimble (Toe H) won the girls’ under 15 60 metres championship in the excellent time of 7.7 sec during the Canterbury under age athletics championship, held in conjunction with the Kaiapoi Track and Field Classic, at Lancaster Park yesterday. This was three-tenths of a second faster than Miss R. McFarland (Technical) won the girls’ under 17 60 metres title. However, Miss McFarland was one of only two athletes to win two titles on the day. She also took the 200 metres. The other to win the double was D. Green (Christchurch). He won the under 17 1500 metres in the fine time of 4min 13.4sec' and followed it later in the day with an equally impressive run of 52.75ec in the 400 metres.
