The tourists, who lost all four tests against South Africa, at last struca top form to beat tne State by an innings anu 1«5 runs. urange Free State, whicn followed on 243 runs in arrears, was bundled out for only os runs in two hours and a nan off 47 overs. 31 of which were] maidens. The South Africans collapsed! against the twin attack of the , pace bowler. L. Mayne, and tht spinner. J. Gleeson Mayne, playing in his last first-class cricket match, finished with five wickets for 26. and Gleeson took three for 13. Twelve of Gleeson's 15 overs were maidens. It was the fourth win by the Australians in South Africa —; but all were achieved against! sides who play in Grade B of! the domestic Currie Cup com-| petition.
