Latimer Square

Sir, —Mr Guthrey’s remarks about acquiring more land north of Hereford Street to replace that lost by “rounding off the corners” of Latimer Square show that he has largely missed the point. The proposed plan ruins the concept of a symmetrical square. It is like cutting off a man’s ear and giving him a couple of extra noses.— Yours, etc., D. G. TENNANT. March 20, 1970.

Sir, —I think the City Council is proposing the wrong thing regarding Latimer Square. Instead of cutting the corners off the square, Madras Street should be driven straight through the middle and the remaining area sealed to provide a free car park for people working in the city. This would be more practical on both counts and would provide a real service for the citizens instead of for a few silly marching girls and vagrants. —Yours, etc., PROGRESS. March 20, 1970.
