Double Draw

Mrs L. E. Davis, of Howick, a member of the Auckland Building Society, has become the first member of the society to win two interestfree $BOOO loans in the same night. Mrs Davis said yesterday she would take the cash equivalent of the two loans—s4ooo—to help pay off their home.—(P.A.). Apartheid Talk The Canterbury Rugby Football Union has been asked to nominate a speaker to take part in a public meeting called for April 1 in opposition to the All Black tour of South Africa this year. Good) said that Mt Dennis Brutus, the South African lecturer, would ad dress the meeting. Edisto Returning

The United States Coast Guard ice-breaker Edisto, which was on its way to the Japanese ice-breaker, Fuji, which had been trapped in Antarctic ice for the last three weeks, is on its way back to Wellington to unload the provisions and equipment it was taking in the event of the Fuji’s remaining fast through the winter. The Fuji is now sailing to Cape Town. The other American ice-breaker. Glacier, which was to meet the Edisto about March 29, is now sailing to Punta Arenas. Chile.

$llO,OOO Raised

More than $llO,OOO has been raised in the National Council of Churches’ Christmas appeal. This is half the target of $220,000.
