Mekong Basin Projects

WELLINGTON, March 19. Agreements signed recently in Phnom Penh provided for five new development projects in the basin of the Mekong River in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, according to a statement issued by the United Nations Information Service.
The new undertakings, to be carried out with aid from jNew Zealand, the Philippines,Britain and the United States.; will help the farming, fishing, and mineral industries and manpower training, navigation and social needs of the people of the Mekong Basin. In Thailand the undertaking will entail apprenticeships in boat building and a study of the socio-economic aspects of fishing. In Cambodia there! will be a demonstration of; the use of fertiliser and ini Laos there will be mapping; | and interpretation after a I mineral survey.i
