MILITARY EXCHANGE
Indonesian Hopes
Hopes for exchanges of Indonesian and New Zealand military personnel were expressed at Bumham Military Camp on Thursday by Colonel Sukemi Sumantri, head of an Indonesian military team of six visiting the South Island. Colonel Sumantri, who is from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence, said the exchange of selected men for joint training was being considered.
Colonel Sumantri said he hoped that such visits as the present one would contribute to closer co-operation between the countries for their mutual benefit.
Yesterday the six men went to the R.N.Z.A.F. base at Wigram which will be responsible for their itinerary until their departure for Whenuapai on Monday.
