WOLFE HAS RETIRED

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. After 10 years of first-class “Rugby, during which he represented New Zealand, North Island, New Zealand Universities, Wellington and Taranaki, the five-eighths, T. N. Wolfe, has announced his retirement Wolfe, aged 28, the sales manager of a soft drink manufacturing company at New Plymouth, said that business commitments made it impossible for him to give enough time to training. He might still play some Rugby for his club side, but it would be only “when and if time permitted.” Wolfe, one of the shortest men playing first-class Rugby, at sft 4in, and one of the most mercurial, started his representative Rugby career for Wellington against Taranaki in 1960 and ended it for Taranaki against Wellington last year. He made 14 appearances for New Zealand (seven in tests), 24 for Wellington and 72 for Taranaki. Wolfe made five overseas tours with New Zealand teams, touring Australia with the All Blacks in 1962 and 1968, Australia in 1960 and North America in 1962 with the New Zealand Universities, and Australia with the New Zealand Colts in 1964.
