The number of young people arrested in Victoria for taking drugs had increased more than twentyfold in the last five years, the C. 1.8. drug bureau chief, Detective Sergeant R. KytePowell, said today. He told the Senate Select Committee into Drug Trafficking and Abuse that only five offenders were aged under 25 in a total of 60 drug-takers in Victoria in 1965.
