RACING Springlo Fancied In Whangarei Event

' “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. i Takanini runners dominate . most events on the first day’s I programme of the Whangarei Racing Club today, and three of them—Springlo, Habanlta and Pacific Prince—seem likely to take the first three placings in the first leg of the T.A.B. concession double, the Whangarei Handicap. Springlo looks to have fresh-1 ened sufficiently well from his exertions at Trentham last week-end, and will be taken' north today. The other two arc already at Whangarei. i Probably all that would keep [Springlo from a really good I showing is a change to very soft ground after rain early in the week. The track was easy yesterday, but not too bad. Both Habanita and Pacific Prince are capable of good form whatever the conditions. Habanita is a three-year-old (illy which has often looked likely to become a stayer, and Pacific Prince is a tough, sea- ■ soned seven-year-old with winl ning form to his credit already i at Whangarei. 1 Meum. a Matangi five-year-old, 7 seems the only candidate cap- ' able of beating the Takanini ’ bld for the second leg, the ’ Maungatapere Handicap.
