S.A.C. Building
l Sir, —So the City Engineer [is to make a report on the aesthetics of the proposed [S.A.C. building. What aesthetics? Mr Secular will be hard put to it to justify our acceptance of this unimaginative, forbidding structure. Yet even this building, properly placed in the city (not in the {Square) might attain a grimi
grandeur—as a monument of what a growing city, not yet fully awake of its glorious potential, cannot refuse from a government department. But let us put it up in the Square as planned. It will be in line with all the other stupidities we are committing at present —the hacking away of our parks and plots, the levelling of good homes in pleasant suburbs. I suppose we can live with one more crass mistake. —Yours, etc. < MARY VALE. March 19. 1970.
