FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A rather disturbed southwest airstream prevails over New Zealand. In this airstream are a weak cold front moving north-east over the North Island, and another approaching the south of the country. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds and fine weather at first; a change to fresh cold southerlies is expected from the south during the morning, bringing cloudy skies and showers, especially about the coast. Outlook: fine.
Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate winds between south and south-east; mostly fine and cool, but a few isolated showers may develop in the ranges during the day; rather cobl. Outlook: fine. Nelson and Central Marlborough.— Moderate variable winds; fine at first but becoming cloudy at times in the late afternoon or evening, with.a few isolated showers about the ranges; rather cool. Outlook: fine. Marlborough Sounds and the Kaikoura Coast.—Fine at first, with moderate variable winds; a change to fresh cool southerlies is expected during the afternoon bringing cloudy skies and some showers.
