Kaimai Rescue
Sir,-—The whole country awaits the rescue of the men from the Kaimai tunnel, and that includes the farming community. Has any one of them said we want rain at any price, as 'Mr Hermans would suggest by his remarks, “we don’t want rain; I'm afraid the farmers will get little sympathy from . me?” Farmers don't expect sympathy. Experience has taught them otherwise; but they can still feel for others in distress and do so on this occa-[ sion.—Yours, etc., OFF THE TURNIPS: February 27,. 1970.
