New Soccer Body In S.I.
(N.Z. Press Association i DUNEDIN. South Island soccer has taken (an administrative step forward with the establishment of a southern regional council. The setting up of this advisory body was decided at a meeting of the Southern League 'committee in'Dunedin on Saturday. and the inaugural meetling will be held on May 17. The council will comprise re presentatives of the league and the various provincial associations. The league also decided to request the New Zealand Foot bad Association that the central league team to join the southern section in the late stages of the Chatham Cup compeii ;tion this year should play its matches in the South Island, not Wellington, as is proposed. i Replies from clubs on the re (prendum to decide the format of the league's competitions for ’.he 1971 season are to be called for by March 23 this year. The application of the Green Island A.FC. (Dunedin) tn play in the second division coni petition this year was accepted following the withdrawal of Player registrations for the league whose competitions start on April 11 (first division) and April IK (second division), are to go through the league in future, not provincial associations Conveners of the match coin mittees appointed are Mr M. Pahl (Christchurch) for the first divsion. and Mr G. Thomas (Dunedin). second division.
