Bowls Title To Sth Brighton
A South Brighton team of C.i ip. Smith. N. V. Williams. B. A. I IS. Read, and T. W. Dixon (s.) won the annual Diggers bowling tournament when they beat in the final a Christchurch W.M.C. team which included three players who had been members; of Ihe champion team for the last three years. The Christchurch W.M.C. team was skipped by A. Bills, with D. Robertson as lead and I. lEndyvean as third. The new comer this year. R. Anderson, who came in in place of R. Barnett, filled the No. 2 berth, i South Brighton won the final, 1 'll-10. after Dixon had drawn the shot with his last bowl on the final end. One hundred and thiry-five teams took part in the first round on Saturday, tyiih 28 qualifying for the -initial round of post-section play yesterday. In the semi-finals Dixon beat Idle (Sumner) and Bills beat Taylor (Rangiora).
