VATICAN MOVE
12 Advisory Bishops
I (N ZPA -Reuter—Copyright) i VATICAN CITY, Feb. 26. A further step towards givi ing bishops mor- say in the government of the Roman Catholic Church was completed today, when voting ended in the election of 12 bishops to advise the Vatican on the preparation of future bishops’ synods. The 12 bishops, elected by postal vote by 146 leading churchmen all over' the world, will belong to a group of 15 attached to the permanent Synod Secretariat in Rome. The three other members will be appointed by Pope Paul. The decision to establish the group was announced by the Pope last November, in accordance with a majority request by the synod of bishops which met in Rome in October. It will help in the preparation of future synods, which the Pope has agreed will now take place regularly every two years—the next, in 1971 —to help him in the government of the Church. The results of the election will be examined on Friday, and are expected to be announced soon afterwards, Vatican sources say.
