A Woman’s Courage

“On Camera” To Return

Tonight’s feature film “Odette" is the story of Odette Marie Celine Churchill, an ordinary young woman who won the George Cross for exceptional gallantry during the Second World War. It is a story of courage and fortitude almost beyond human comprehension.

Transported secretly into occupied France, Odette is one of the founders of the Maquis, the French resistance movement. She is eventually captured by the Gestapo and subjected to two long, bitter years of imprisonment and torture, during which time she has for her tormentors only one answer: “I have nothing to say.” “Odette” stars Anna Neagle in the title-role, with Trevor Howard, Marius Goring, Peter Ustinov, Bernard Lee and, as himself, Maurice Buckmaster.

CHTV3’s programme for afternoon viewers, “On Camera," starts again on Tuesday afternoon, March 3. The programme, basically live, is transmitted for 40 minutes each Tuesday and Thursday just after 2 p.m. The producer is David Potter rnd the programme is led by Julie Cunningham. There is a permanent researcherreporter, Joan Allard, and it is hoped also that “On Camera” will have a casual male reporter this year. The programme is aimed not only at women, but at others who are home in the afternoon retired people, shift workers, students and so on.
