SUMMER LINGERIE FASHIONS SHOWN

! Femininity was the theme for the Prestige (N.Z.), Ltd, fashion show of summer lingerie held in Christchurch last evening. Compared by Miss Jose- : phine Brodie, of Wellington, the show included a wide range of slips, nighties and negligees in colours ranging from bright red and orange to soft pastel shades. Of the four models, three , were New Zealand beauty queens—Glenys Treweek (recently crowned “Miss Wellington”), Frances Probert (a former “Miss Wellington”), and 1 Carol Waghorn (former “Miss Teenager, Wellington.”) The ; fourth model was well known Pru Donald, also of Welling- > ton. [ The girls modelled garments with the emphasis on the young look, short nighties with ruffled bodices and high

waists being the trend for next summer.

Describing a provocative short, red, nightie, Miss Brodie said New Zealand women had come a long way in reeducating themselves to wear colour. Clear yellow was another favourite with nighties and slips as were new shades of pink, cream and coffee cream. The trend with slips is the camisole style, which is ideal for covering straps on the shoulders when wearing seethrough fashion, and slips are either mini or mid-thigh length. A popular set for the coming summer will be the slip, half slip and briefs all matching for top fashions. A stunning garment for young swingers was a bright orange mini - brunchcoat modelled by Carol Waghorn. In quilted nylon with 30 denier nylon ruffles, the coat was crossed over in the front

and. belted at the waist Strictly for those who want the young, young loon. An exciting range of trousseau garments were shown for summer brides, the main trend being towards long styles. Outstanding was a long cream night gown with a lace bodice and a flowing skirt in 30 denier nylon. Slimming and sleeveless, this garment would be an elegant addition to any trousseau. A new look was achieved with a bedroom pants suit in white quilted nylon, thei jacket mid-thigh length, trimmed with orange lace. For high-fashion glamour and femininity the full length negligee set in white nylon with swansdown trim was a winner, as was a pink lace jump suit for the bedroom with flared pants While the favourite fabric for lingerie remains nylon, Tetron is fast becoming a second choice. This crisp fresh-looking fabric is both feminine and flattering in short nighties and brunch coats.
