(New Zeal&n# Press Association)
DUNEDIN.
Continued fine weather and good water conditions at Lake Waihola yesterday led to keen competition in repechage events and close finishes on the third day of the national rowing championships.
The hrst repechage of the champion eights proved one of the most exciting races of the day. Half a length covered the first three crews at the finish, with Canterbury retaining the narrow lead it had held since the halfway. Aramoho, which finished second, and Canterbury qualified for tomorrow’s eights final, with Union (Christ church) and Waikato, who were first and second, respec tively, in the second repe chage. Canterbury had more success in the first repechage of the champion fours when it squeezed into the final by beating a fast-finishing Bienheim crew by half a canvas.
