New Building For Automobile Assn
A new technical service centre with allied facilities will be established in Sydenham by the Automobile Association (Canterbury).
At a meeting last evening of the association's council, Messrs Hall and Mackenzie, architects, were appointed to design the new building.
The president of the association (Mr J. R. Mating) said I that the centre would be built | on recently acquired property formerly occupied by the old St Saviour's Church and vicarage. Consequential alterations to the association’s headquarter’s building would primarily involve expansion of the tours and travel departments and the general office. Camp Centre
A tender of 816,880 for the erection of a new camp centre at the Hanmer Springs camp had been accepted, the general manager of the association (Mr E. S. Palliser) reported to the council. Mr G. W. Lucking had been [ instructed as architect and, work was expected to begin soon.
He said that the date specified in the contract for completion of the work was May
Amuri Transport. Ltd, whose tender of $2OO for the • demolition and removal of the
log cabin had previously been accepted had since been asked to proceed with the work.
