RACING Honey Belle Picked In Stakes Event

The meeting of Mayo Gold and Honey Belle promises a great race in the Lady Norrie Stakes on the first day of the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting at Te Rapa today.

With 9-7 each, they; have 101 b more than the next weighted acceptor] and 291 b more than a couple on the bottom of! jthe list, but for all that 'they will almost certainly dominate betting! on the event. Honey Belle, with wins at'

Honey Belle gained her Trentham wins over seven j furlongs and a mile, whereas Mayo Gold, after being a sprinter-miler for 12 months or so. reverted to a middle distance in the Rotorua event. A question tomorrow will be whether she is capable of changing back successfully, and in such short time, to a mile in the Lady Norrie i Stakes. The race is restricted to '■ fillies and mares and runners carry weight-for-age with penalties and allowances. Both ' Honey Belle and Mayo Gold receive the full penalty of . 101 b as winners of races ' worth $4OOO or more since the beginning of the present sea- : son Record Holder Johnny Cash, the Australian and New Zealand record ! holder for a mile and a half and the top-weight with 8-11, looks a good prospect to win again in the first leg of the T A B. concession double, the Even Stevens Challenge Cup, , 11 furlongs. Taken all round his opponents are fairly moderate although old Tatua, Pacific Prince, El Tombo and Damar might make matters interesting. Corrandulla, another of the successful stable operated by R. J.
