The police have killed 92 1 armed Maoist Communist rej volutionaries and arrested ;1350 others in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh ' in the past year. i The Andhra Minister for Home Affairs (Mr Vengal Rao) told a questioner in the Legislative Assembly yesterday that 84 had been killed i in 63 armed encounters in the heavily-wooded, hilly district '■of Srikakulam. ■ The revolutionaries, known . at Naxalities, had murdered 38 people, mostly rich landlords, he added. Mr Rao said that armed ; police squads had been posted ■in the Srikakulam district and other trouble-spots, but he could not say safely that the Government had succeeded in curbing the Naxalites.
