Sliderule Impresses
"The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. Sliderule completed his preparation for the Gore Cup with an attractive trial at Wingatui yesterday when the trials were held under, ideal conditions. Sliderule’s time was not the best for the morning, but he had something in hand when ridden by his race rider, E. J. Didham. Accompanied by his stablemate. Grey Satin (L. G. Didham), he went five furlongs on the outside of the course proper in Imin 6sec, the first two furlongs in 25 2-ssec. The best trial of the morning was by the brilliant Shewetta <E. Didham), which was too good for her stablemate, Royal Mount IM. Kennedy), over the same ground tn tmln 4 4-ssec, the firat two furlongs in 23 4-ssec. Camaro lE. Didham), a candidate for the second leg. the Charlton Handicap, shaded In Doubt IN. Hunt) In imin 5 2-ssec, the first two in 25 l-ssec. El Shub (J. Dowling) and Miss Mannequin (L. Hare) ran a solid trial in Imin 5 2-ssec, the first two in 25 2-ssec. Atlantic Flight 18. Anderton) and Warrimai IM. MacKewen) sprinted three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. and will be raced by Mrs T. K. S. Sidey. He is to make a start at the Dunedin meeting next week.
Beau Bevan (R. Pledger) ran fast over the early stages, the first furlong in 12sec, but was steadied to complete half a mile in 53sec.
Superspan (J. Pankhurst) set the pace for Baal Hanan over six furlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec.
It was only in the later stages that the pace was on, the last half-mile taking 53 l-ssec.
In one of the few gallops on the sand, Listen Lady (R. McAra) and Berwin (G. Scott) ran a smart half-mile in 52 3-ssec, the first furlong in 13 2-ssec.
