Game At Peak
i "The Press” Special Service HASTINGS. [ Game, which will leave for Te Rapa on Saturday to complete his preparation for the [lnvitation Stakes next Tuesday, worked impressively on the icourse proper at Hastings yesterday morning. Game is at peak fitness and has never looked more solidly ■ muscled. [ Several candidates for the racing at Woodville tomorrow were responsible for good 'trials. They included the sprint (runner, Chill. ; The plough was slushy after ithe steady rajn that has fallen. ,The course proper, though [cutting out a little, was in good 'shape. The trestles, however. |were about 30 feet out beyond the proper distance from the [running rail. In view of this [some of the times were out- [ standing. I Game (J. Lundy) ran a mile ;in Imin 48 3-ssec, the last six in Imin 19 4-ssec and the last •three with something in hand in 42sec. He handled the soft ground well and there need/be .no doubt about his fitness for Tuesday. The two-year-old, Sheherazade <J. Panapa), had the edge on Mr Spy (L. Carston) and Master spy (I. Lawson) after five furlongs in imin ssec, the last three in 40 4-ssec. The last named two race at Woodville and although beaten by a length they went well. Fraternize (D. Cullen) and Luana (L. Carston) worked on the plough snd they rsn very boldly over half a mile in 51 i-ssec, the last three in 38 l-ssec. This was splendid work. Chill (T. Whittington) went alone over five furlongs in Imin 6 4-ssec, the last three in 40 l-ssec. Because she was not entered for the Woodville Cup, Chill will revert to sprinting on Saturday but over seven furlongs she might be hard to beat, particularly on a soft or . heavy track.
