Sacking ’Not ! Explained' I <N Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON N„ Feb. 12. All Palmerston North City! Council bus drivers will go I on strike for 24 hours tomorrow. This action, decided by the! drivers last night is in pro-1 test at the council giving no; reason for sacking a driver nine days ago. The drivers are taking! strike action as members of! I the Wellington Drivers' I Union. They claim the conn-1 cil refused to reveal why the. man was dismissed. The chairman of the council committee which controls I bus services (Cr T. A. de Cleene) said today that there! I would be no retraction of the; 'committee’s decision. The reasons for the man’s dismissal were none of the' union’s business, he said. “The council abided by the terms of the award in dismissing the man concerned," he isaid. "If the drivers want to strike, that is their affair.” '
