Battle In Laos
(N Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright) VIETIANE, Feb. 12. North Vietnamese forces lost 76 dead today in their first attack of the year on the Plain of Jars, a Defence Ministry spokesman said. The spokesman said North Vietnamese regiment number 144 launched an attack on the main airstrip of the plain near Khang Khay town. They were driven back by Government forces in a battle lasting just under three hours, the spokesman said, and 76 bodies were found round the ‘air strip. Government forces also cap tured seven North Vietnam- ■ ese soldiers but lost a number dead and 10 wounded them.selves, he said.
