OBITUARY Mrs W. Simes

Mrs Winsome Heather Simes, who died in Christchurch recently, was a prominent member of the Avondale, Harewood and Christchurch Ladies’ Golf clubs as a player and later as an administrator.

Mrs Simes took an active interest in many community organisations, particularly in the Play Centres’ Association, the Plunket Society and the Red Cross Good Neighbour Service. She travelled widely and having seen distressed children in other parts of the world, gave many years’ service to the Save the Children Fund.

Her parents, William and Mary Robertson, were among the early settlers of Canterbury who walked over the Bridle Path from Lyttelton. Mrs Simes is survived by her husband, Mr M. W. Simes, and a son, Mr Garry Simes.
