LONDON. February 10.

A member of Parliament, Sir Gerald Nabarro, said yesterday that American women were being offered package tours to Britain for abortion operations.

Sir Gerald Nabarro. a Con- < servative, was complaining in 4 the House of Commons of the! commercialisation of Britain’s.; abortion services under the < country’s liberalised laws. < He said the £5OO a trip; charge for the tours included 1 ) cost of air fares, hotel, clinic ;< services and medical supervi- ) sion. ;) The Social Security Minister;; (Mr Richard Crossman) told'l him: “It would, in my view, i be quite unjustified to purport to guarantee an abortion as part of a package tour.” But he added that it was not government policy to exclude; foreign visitors who came to Britain for private medical or surgical treatment. Sir Gerald Nabarro retorted |i that this highly undesirable traffic had been initiated by I; the dreadfully permissive con-

■ dition of Britain's abortion i' laws. j! “Are you really saying that. >;you are prepared to encour-! i age such an undesirable form! of invisible export?” he asked.; > Mr Crossman replied that ij whether the abortion laws :;were working well or badly. ■ was a different question from ! whether foreign visitors •{should be permitted to come I to Britain and use private me-1 . dical services. i t Manson Trial : A Superior Court judge >, yesterday set the Sharon Tate :; murder trial for March 30, {but admitted that the pregI {nancy of one of the accused si might make it impossible to r I proceed on that date.—Los ■ Angeles, February 10.
