Game Works Well

“The Press” Special Service HASTINGS. Game and Astrella, which are to contest the Invitation Stakes at Te Rapa next Tuesday, impressed in separate gallops at Hastings yesterday morning.

Astrella will go north today to complete her preparataion for Saturday’s Lady Norrie Stakes at Te Rapa, and Game, which holds no engagement on the first day of the meeting, will travel on Saturday. Deep Image, which will be tried at a middle distance in the Champion Hack Handicap at Woodville on Saturday, was responsible for a fine trial and the maiden, Dark Knowledge, also worked well. On the plough, which was fast, False Problem (P. Coleman) ran half a mile boldly in 52 3-ssec. the last three in 38sec. He ran disappointingly in high-weight class at Wairoa in spite of looking particularly fit. Game (J. S. Lundy) worked impressively over seven furlongs in Imin 34sec, the last five furlongs in Imin 6 3-ssec, and the last three in 39 4-ssec. Game is in hard condition after his win in the Jackson Stakes and he must be rated an excellent chance of winning the Invitation Stakes at Te Rapa. Astrella (R. B. Marsh) was most impressive working becide Bluffing (D. Thomas) throughout five furlongs in Imin 4 3-ssec. the last three in 39sec. Astrella is very fit and she must appeal for the Norrie Stakes. Bluffing will race at Napier Park. Deep Image (L. Carston) went out to work with Dark Knowledge (R. B. Marsh), but Deep Image broke away early and put a big break on Dark Knowledge, which Marsh did not attempt to bridge. Deep Image ran six furlongs in Imin 18 3-ssec, the last three in 39 3-ssec and Dark Knowledge took the same time for his last three. Deep Image might make his presence felt in the Champion Hack Handicap at Woodville.
