Bond Sales Near $lm

The sale of Post Office development bonds in the Christchurch postal district is expected to exceed $1 million by the end of this week. The Chief Postmaster (Mr M. T. Reedy) said yesterday that sales had already reached $989,000, including more than $26,000 last week. “These bond sales have held up extremely well even during the holiday period,” Mr Reedy said. The bonus bonds to go on sale on March 5 would be available at all post offices except agencies, he said. Tellers were now being trained to cope fully with the considerable demand expected.
