Ohl School Sought An application by a group of Christchurch men for the I lease of the old school and grounds at Diamond Harbour, for a camping site was referred to the estates committee! by the Lyttelton Borough Council on Monday evening. A letter, signed by Messrs I. E. Hartmen and El ley. said the group was interested in the provision of a first-class camping ground with firstclass amenities which would be an asset to the community and would help make Diamond Harbour better known afield The men said they intended to renovate the existing buildings and add new ones, i Cr E. A. Camfield, said that the group had applied before, and he could only suggest the same answer—that the council was unable to say what the future of the old school might be as the school was, not its possession The Ministry of Works was responsible for it Cr R. H. Duff said that the Ministry had. in effect, said it was willing to transfer the school buildings to the council at a nominal price “But the main thing is, does, the council want the pro J perty?
